What happens during IAW?
Communities throughout the UK will be organising a range of activities and events aimed at opening dialogues about their way of life, developing contact with individuals and institutions, promoting social interaction and celebrating art and culture.
Hundreds of events have taken place over the years; they have all had an impact within communities. We believe IAW has already made a significant and historic contribution to community relations since its inception in 1994.
There will be a variety of activities during this years Islam Awareness Week including:

- IAW Scotland Launch: High profile launch with key partners, politicians and agencies
- Community outreach initiatives: Feeding the homeless, visiting the elderly in residential homes, blood and organ donation initiatives, street clean-up and much more
- Gala Dinner: Over 450 people from all backgrounds attended in 2014 for an evening of great food, light conversation and mosque tours
- Exhibition: Specially commissioned on theme of Scottish Islam
- Schools initiative: Outreach to schools. In previous years, over 1200 pupils have participated during the week
