THEME for 2015
Give a little of yourself follows on from last year’s theme ‘Sharing the Common Wealth of Islam’. This year's theme is about going back to basics in terms of what role we play in society and what our common aims and objectives are.
It goes without saying that we share love for curry and Irn-Bru but ‘give a little of yourself’ is much deeper than that. It is about embracing and nurturing the community we live in to provide a safe and secure society for us and for the future generations to come.
The spirit of kindness and well wishing is encouraged by Islam. Every good act is charity. Charitable contribution, however, is not restricted to material things.
Islam Awareness Week 2015 is a national campaign about raising awareness of the value of giving time to the community not just to help others but to help yourself too.
Whether it’s giving blood, signing to the bone marrow register, registering as an organ donor, helping an older person with their shopping or gardening, visiting the sick and infirm, the aim is simple - trying new things, meeting new people and just getting out there will make you feel happier and connected within the society in which you live.
Whenever you give to others, you are also a recipient.
You give a little, but you receive a lot in return.
